Knocked out a tooth?
If you have knocked out a tooth you should attend or contact your Smiles Dental practice immediately. The sooner a knocked out tooth is re-implanted the more likely it is to embed itself back into the gum.

In the meantime:
  • Rinse the tooth in milk, holding it by the crown (avoiding the roots)
  • If possible put the tooth back into the socket
  • If you cannot re-implant the tooth hold it between your cheek and gum until you see a dentist or store in a clean container in either milk or your saliva

Broken a tooth?
If you’ve broken or chipped your tooth you should attend or contact your Smiles Dental practice immediately. Damage to a tooth should be treated as soon as possible. Chips or fractures can affect the living tissue inside the tooth, causing problems in the future. Your Smiles dentist can prevent the damage from getting worse.

In the meantime:
  • Get to your Smiles dentist as soon as possible
  • Apply a cold pack to the cheek or lips over the broken tooth.
  • Rinse your mouth well with warm water
  • Store any fragments in a clean container in either milk or your saliva
