Dr Alan McCarthy Read More

Alan qualified from University College Cork, Ireland in 1986. He moved to England and worked as an associate in High Wycombe and Gravesend. He then moved to Sherborne in Dorset in September 1989 and became a partner at Market View Dental Practice – Sherborne.

During that time, Alan has maintained a keen interest in postgraduate education. Alan completed the Diploma of Postgraduate Dental Studies at Bristol in 1996. He has also completed the BOULD course in Orthodontics for Clinical Assistants and worked at Dorset County Hospital for four years. He has continued this work at the practice under the guidance of local Consultant, Mr H.Bellis.

To add to his repertoire, Alan completed both Restorative and Aesthetic yearly courses under Paul Tipton at Manchester, one of the leading Restorative dentists in the country. Finally, in November 2010, he completed the implant course at Bath Spa under Dermot McNulty to further his interest in dental implants.

When Alan is not busy with family commitments, he enjoys playing golf, squash and football. He is keen to follow the fortunes of the Irish rugby team.

Linda Overton-Fox qualified from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden in 1994.

After practicing in Sweden for seven years, Linda moved to England in 2000.

In 2001 Linda joined Market View Dental Practice – Sherborne and has continued with her professional development by taking an advanced restoration course by Dr H Sidelsky in 2006/07 and is now taking a course on occlusion under the direction of Dr R Higson and Dr A Lane.

Linda has a real interest in working with nervous patients to help them overcome their dental fears.

Born in 1964 in Cape Town, David was raised in an English home near the winelands of Stellenbosch. He completed his schooling at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, and embarked on a nine year university career at the University of Stellenbosch.

In 1986, David achieved a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiology where his literary thesis examined the social, cultural and psychological links between Beta-endorphins and pain perception. This cultivated an interest in dentistry and he was duly accepted to the course, achieving a BChD degree in 1991.

November 2004 saw a relocation to the UK, where David and his family have settled well and qualified successfully for permanent residency.

David is a firm believer in the value of continued education, and has held an Associate Membership with the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) during 2007 and 2008. He is currently undertaking the MSc degree in Oral Surgery at the University of Central Lancashire, under the tutelage of Professor StJohn Crean.

When away from his surgery, you will find David either on his motorcycle, the golf course or thoroughly engrossed in some DIY project.

CEB Dip Dent Hygiene 1997 GDC No. 5283

Satvinder trained as a Dental Hygienist whilst in the army service with the Royal Army Dental Corps. He qualified in 1997 and was posted to Blandford Camp.

After leaving the army in 2000 Satvinder joined Shaftesbury Dental Practice and has been with the practice ever since. Satvinder keeps up to date with the latest trends in dentistry by regularly attending update courses.

Satvinder is originally from Newcastle and is an avid fan of Newcastle United.

Jacquie qualified in 1976 at the University of Bristol and through commitment and interest has a wealth of experience in the fields of dental health promotion and preventative care and management of periodontal disease.
Jacquie likes to stay up to date with current thinking in dentistry and regularly attends regional meetings hosted by the BDHA. Jacquie likes to listen to the patient and build a rapport and mutual trust. The consultations are patient focused and Jacquie will identify the customers’ needs and present them with a specific treatment plan. Outside of dentistry, Jacquie enjoys walking in the countryside, travelling and healthy living.

Peta Hammill grew up in Bath and went on to study for eight years to gain a BSc in Biomedical Sciences, an MSc in Gerontology and a BDS Dental degree at King’s College, University of London. Peta really enjoyed student life in London and had a great time, but once her study was completed chose to move back to the South West.

She has recently completed her SAAD sedation course as well as a posterior composite restoration course (white fillings).

Outside of dentistry in her free time Peta enjoys riding horses, playing tennis, country walks and going to the cinema. She also likes to travel, especially to sunny places!
