Full Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr Jason Hart, BDS, is a Full Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a dentist with a specialist interest at Smiles Dental Specialist Dental Care. Originally from South Wales, Jason graduated from Bristol Dental Hospital in 1995. After a period as a House Officer, working with cancer patients in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and Accident and Emergency, Jason went into practice in Swansea and completed his vocational training successfully. After moving to Redland, Jason worked for five years in a busy mixed private and NHS practice in Queens Road, at that time being invited to join the team at the Leckhampton Implant Centre in Cheltenham.
The clinic became part of Smiles Dental in 2002. Jason finally joined the team in Clifton at the beginning of 2006 and since then has increased his commitment and time at the clinic. Dr Hart has spent time studying implantology in Wolverhampton and Jersey with Stuart Harding, having successfully completed single implant, bridgework and prosthetic cases. Jason also has an accreditation of accomplishment in Maxillary Sinus Augmentation and he is a member of SAAD, allowing him to use sedation techniques to treat anxious and phobic patients.
Jason’s interests clinically embrace all aspects of modern cosmetic dentistry, implantology and surgery along with a firm commitment to preventive and conservative dentistry. Jason feels it is important to keep abreast of the changing face of dental developments worldwide by attending regular courses and updates. More recently, Jason has become the largest provider of Invisalign in the area, choosing to correct crooked teeth with the near invisible braces technique. Dr Hart has completed the prestigious Chris Orr advanced year-long course in cosmetic dentistry and aesthetic restorative dentistry. Jason says ‘hopefully, gone are the days of the conveyor belt dentistry provided by an imposing and intimidating surgeon.
At Smiles Dental, we hope to provide a personal and flexible service which is refined and honed to you, the individual. On The Outside Jason has a keen interest in classic and modern sports cars and spends some of his spare time tinkering and restoring his cars in his father’s place of work in Penarth, South Wales.

Alfonso Rao graduated from the university of chieti “d’Annunzio” in Italy. He worked at hospitals in Pescara, Caserta and Napoli as a Dental Surgeon.
He started work in the UK in 2009 working in several practices and within Smiles Dental in Wales since last year.
His aim is to deliver a high standard of care in a friendly and professional environment.
Alfonso believes strongly in continuing education and has attended and continues to attend numerous courses. He is currently working towards the Diploma in Implantology from the Eastman Dental Institute. Alfonso has a keen interest in the fields of implant dentistry, endodontic and cosmetic dentistry.
Alfonso is currently working as a General Dental Practitioner and is able to provide all levels of support to patients from cosmetic dentistry, endodontics (root filling), improved aesthetics and function to using the latest bonded material technology. He very much enjoys collaborating with other Dental Practitioners in multidisciplinary cases.
His interests outside of dentistry include travel, football, tennis and cookery.

Dr. Massimo Giovarruscio was born in Rome and qualified with distinction in Dental Prosthetics from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in 1995. He worked at the Fate Bene Fratelli Hospital in Rome, in the Prosthetics Department under the immediate direction of head Professor Mario Martignoni, until 2002.
He then worked in the dental office of Prof. Mario Martignoni from 1995 until 2004. Currently he works in his own dental practice in Rome, exclusively in Endodontic Treatment (root canal) and Prosthetic Restoration, using an operative microscope and the latest dental technology.
Dr Giovarruscio is an active member of the Italian Society of Endodontics, Ordinary Member (European Society of Endodontology), active member of the Italian Academy of Microscopic Odontostomatology, member of the Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry and member of the Italian Association of Gnatology.
Massimo Giovarruscio is also a public speaker at many national and international conventions of Endodontic Treatment.
In 2006 Massimo joined Smiles Dental working at various clinics including Clifton in Bristol, Bassaleg and Cardiff Bay, offering his expertise in complex root canal treatments and apicectomies, using a microscope to achieve the best possible results.

Dr Louise Hull trained at Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in London as a doctor where she obtained her MBBS degree, qualifying in 1989. She subsequently obtained a distinction in the Diploma of Practical Dermatology (DPD) and has also passed the MRCGP, DRCOG and DOH exams.
Dr Hull is a general medical practitioner and has had a special interest in Dermatology for over ten years, performing regular minor surgery and general dermatology at out patient clinics in Wales. She is experienced in the removal of benign skin tags and seborrhoeic warts and in giving general dermatological advice.
Louise Hull joined the F.A.C.E. clinic at Clifton earlier this year carrying out treatments for wrinkle and fine lines reduction, chemical peels, dermal fillers, microdermabrasion, Sculptra and removal of skin tags and benign warts, as well as general care of the skin with the use of a lamp for facial analysis.

Podiatrist/Chiropodist

Wendy Briggs qualified from The Chelsea School of Chiropody and Podiatry in 1985, and for the following twenty plus years worked as a Podiatrist in both the NHS and in private practice.
Wendy spent most of her last NHS podiatry post working, in both community clinics and in the hospital, treating and advising people with foot problems resulting from: diabetes; other health problems and ageing. To support these roles she has undertaken an honours degree in Health Studies, postgraduate training in The Diabetic Foot and a Postgraduate Diploma from Cardiff University in Ageing, Health and Disease. She has been involved in research on the diabetic and the arthritic foot, and has had papers published in professional peer review journals.
More recently Wendy developed an interest in infection prevention, and has a post graduate diploma in Infection Control. When she is not working at Smiles Dental as a Podiatrist Wendy works as a Community Infection Prevention and Control Specialist.
Wendy is registered as a Podiatrist with the HPC. She is a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and sits on their Health and Safety Panel. She is also an active member of the Infection Prevention Society.
Wendy can offer chiropody/ podiatry treatment for people who have foot problems, and for those who want to prevent foot problems developing. Patients can be reassured that all treatments are provided safely and to the highest professional standards.

Dental Receptionist
Charlotte worked as a Dental Receptionist for just under 3 years before joining the team at Smiles Dental – Clifton in July 2012.
She enjoys working as part of a team and strives to give the best patient care. She prides herself in building strong relationships with patients to ensure that they feel relaxed, comfortable and welcomed into the practice. Charlotte is very interested in obtaining honest feedback about the service provided and feels it is of great importance that patients are asked to fill out a short survey at the end of their treatment, in order for us to make changes, where needed, and show patients how much we value their opinions.
Charlotte has a special interest in getting to know each patient, making them feel they are part of a club. She always goes the extra mile to ensure she knows each patient as they walk through the door and puts time aside to speak to them as individuals. Charlotte has a keen interest in dentistry and hopes to further her knowledge in this area by spending time observing dental procedures in surgery.
Her interests outside of work include cooking, socialising and reading.

Jenna started training as a dental nurse in Bristol in 2006, subsequently qualified and continued to study and achieved her dental nurse certificate in conscious sedation. As a qualified dental nurse Jenna understands the importance of continuing professional development and tries to incorporate it into her spare time as much as possible.
She has a particular interest in assisting with implants and oral surgery. Jenna has enormous empathy with patients and finds great reward in working with the dental phobic patient.
Before joining James Hull Dental Care, Jenna previously worked in a specialist oral surgery practice. Following that, she then went on to become a multi-site manager for a large corporate dental company.
Jenna is a great team player and brings a great deal of energy to her work and to the team.
Outside of work Jenna enjoys an active life attending the gym, walking her dog and socializing with friends.

Dental Nurse

Carly graduated from Cardiff Dental hospital in 2009. Since then she has worked in both NHS and private practices. Carly joined James Hull shortly after qualifying, and worked in our Mermaid Quay practice in Cardiff before joining our team here in Clifton, at the end of 2012.
Since qualifying Carly has played a large role in the Steels project based in Bristol, which involved Oral health promotion in schools and youth clubs as well as fluoride application in the surgery.
Her main role in the practice involves the treatment and prevention of gum disease. Carly is very passionate about educating her patient in caring for their teeth and gums by providing specific oral hygiene advice and developing individual home care plans. She is also able to administer local anesthetic, take radiographs (x-rays) take impressions and seal children’s teeth. Other professional interests include tooth whitening and dental implants.
The most important aspect of Carly’s job in her opinion is building a trusting and caring relationship with her patients. She especially enjoys helping nervous patients overcome their fears, ensuring every patient feels at ease throughout treatment.
Carly is a member of the British society of Dental hygiene and Therapy. She believes strongly in continuing professional development and education, therefore regularly attends a number of courses yearly to insure she has the most up to date knowledge and training in her field.
In her spare time Carly enjoys going to the gym and socializing with friends. She also loves travelling to different countries and experiencing their cultures.

Rebecca qualified as a dental nurse in 2011. Rebecca has worked as a dental nurse in a busy NHS practice for 3 years before joining the Clifton team in March 2013.
Rebecca is particularly interested in cross infection procedures and takes pleasure in keeping up to date with new legislation and concerns. She is a reliable team member who is well liked by both her colleagues and patients.
Rebecca has a keen interest in orthodontics and oral surgery including dental implants.
Outside of the surgery Rebecca enjoys running, going for walks, socialising and cooking.
